These famous words, attributed to St. Teresa of Avila, perhaps offer some insight into the Christian sense of 'vocation' or 'calling' - to pray, to serve and to build community around the model of Jesus Christ. It is out of a deep and a firmly rooted commitment to continue the ministry of Jesus that our brothers and our sisters in the Carmelite Order today continue to give witness to the presence of the Eternal, that they are able to perceive reality, confront indifference and injustice, and 'look compassion into the world'. As we approach the feast of the 'Presentation of Mary' on 21st November we show our solidarity and appreciation for religious communities across the world :
