AECI Lent 2026 Reflection: 'Am I In The Picture? A Screen Journey'
(With reference to Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'Gospel According to St Matthew' 1964)
Opening Prayer:
'The earth is full of the goodness
Of the Lord
He loves justice and right
From heaven the Lord looks down
He sees all mankind
He is our help and shield '
Amen
Easter Sunday

'The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (Matthew 28: 5-10)
It is our true calling to live with the joy and the peace of a lasting intimacy and friendship with our divine source.
RECALL: The strength and courage within you that has brought you to this very day. 'Come and see' all things with fresh vision today, and breathe a sense of goodness and of hope.
ASK: Am I in the picture? The angel lifts us towards the sacred and the holy, the cross is empty. How might we stride forward in greater simplicity and with greater love?
REFLECT: On the two important quotations below
'In this way we too can ascend the hill of Calvary with a song of thanksgiving. This will conform us to Jesus, the image that the Father has wanted to imprint on our souls' (St Elizabeth of the Trinity)
'The motivation that unites all of my films is to give back to reality its original sacred significance.' (Pier Pasolini)

A Very Happy Easter from all at the AECI!
