Learning More About John the Baptist:
In this short video clip Fr. Michael Cox (O.Carm) of Aylesford Carmelite Priory in Kent reflects of the significance of John the Baptist, the forerunner to Jesus Christ in the Gospels. He describes how John's father, Zechariah (.. whom we shall return to later!) needed the 'time' to digest what was fully happening to him and to his family.
John himself 'rejoices' in the coming of something greater, and he has the courage to convey that truth to others. Yet he knows that human minds need to be receptive and human hearts need to be open to grasp the true scale of this loving relationship that is close at hand. To be transformed we have to meet the challenge ... of losing 'ego' and perhaps even escaping our rigid definitions of 'time' alongside 'self'!
