You return to the mountainside. To the very spot where you heard the message of Jesus ring out across the crowd on that day.
'Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted ...'
This line now comes to mind, as do the names, the faces, the memories of those who are no longer with us on our journey throughout life.
How it is we seek 'comfort' at dark and difficult times. How it is we can feel isolated and abandoned. How we might go on with our daily tasks but remain agitated and uncertain below the surface.
There are young sapling trees blowing in the breeze. Dark clouds have gathered above. The mountain itself looks lonely.
Jesus' words now feel like 'a refuge'.
You are home just before the outbreak of thunder.
Hope is still kindling. Perhaps buried within you.
Hope was why you returned to the mountainside.
